The CCDA Education Committee hosted a staff appreciation dinner for school staff and presented Hathorne Elementary teacher Lula Owens with Teacher of the Year Award. Chairman Chris Givens presented the awards.

The Merrill Museum houses a number of exhibits including the McCain Collection, memorabilia from the family of Senator John S. McCain.
Placed on the Register of Historic Places after it was discontinued as a school, the old Vaiden High School serves as the site for teh Vaiden Farmers Market during the summer. Soon this building will be ready for use as a community facility.
